Stepping into the ‘new normal’, NYAMOS brings in a line of sanitizing and disinfecting products for consumers to maintain good hygiene and protection against germs, viruses, bacteria, and other harmful pathogens.
The Difference
According to the EPA, both sanitizers and disinfectants are considered antimicrobial pesticides, for which registrations are necessary. The intent of product registration is to ensure its effectiveness while minimizing risks to human health and the environment.
It may sound scary to apply pesticides in touchable surroundings, but they do protect us from harmful pathogens during critical moments such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
To distinguish,
- Sanitizing kills bacteria on surfaces using chemicals. It is not intended to kill viruses.
- Disinfecting kills viruses and bacteria on surfaces using chemicals.
- Hand sanitizers kill pathogens on the skin (regulated by the FDA).
Our Standard
We offer antimicrobial products which are greener and contain safer ingredients for human health and the environment. Additionally, NYAMOS products are made of plant-based and biodegradable inputs, such as the use of eco-packaging and degradable materials.
We ensure to balance product efficacy with sustainability considerations, including minimizing the presence of harmful chemicals and the use of renewable resources.
Ethyl alcohol – Also known as ethanol or simply alcohol. It is an ingredient in alcoholic beverages like wine and liquor. It is also an organic compound which is commonly used as a disinfectant and antiseptic to kill viruses and bacteria. Ethanol is more dehydrating; you can feel the tightness and dryness after use.
Isopropyl alcohol – Isopropanol is used in soaps and lotions as an antiseptic, as well as rubbing hand sanitizer to kill germs on our hands. Isopropyl alcohol evaporates more quickly but won’t dry out skin that quickly.
The CDC recommends consumers use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. A touch of aloe & vitamin E might improve the dryness.
Benzalkonium Chloride – Commonly known as BZK, is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic and disinfectant, used as a surfactant and antibacterial agent. It is non-alcohol based and effective for sanitizing surfaces when used as directed.
